News: Appalachian Christmas
More Info
Appalachian Christmas continues as it has for the past 22 seasons with an abundance of cheer and traditional Appalachian folk and bluegrass music. Local favorites, and The Morgans, Lynne Haas and Friends, The Dismembered Tennesseans will begin the toe-tapping evening at 7:00 p.m. followed by a headline performance by Barbara Lamb and her allstar Nashville band.
Lamb’s latest recording, Twisty Girl, represents her one-woman show with ten original pieces ranging from the quirky Scio Sheep Barn to the plaintive I Was Wondering to the completely electronica vibing Benny Got a Chicken.
For Appalachian Christmas, Barbara Lamb will be accompanied by an all-star cast including John Cowan on bass and vocals, Scott Vestal on banjo, Mike Compton on mandolin and Jeff Autry on guitar and vocals.
Admission to Appalachian Christmas is $3.00, with complimentary hot cider and sugar cookies provided throughout the event. Children 10 and under are free.
Appalachian Christmas is sponsored by Collier Construction, Elemi, Live Urban, and BB&T. For more information on Winter Days & Lights call 423-265-0771 or visit www.downtownchattanooga.org.
